Marcus by Goldman Sachs launched in 2016 as one of the most unlikely products in banking — Wall Street’s most elite investment bank offering a consumer savings account. Marcus has since grown to $100+ billion in deposits and earned a reputation as a reliable, no-frills high-yield savings option backed by a Goldman Sachs A+ credit rating.
Accuracy note (updated October 15, 2026): Marcus’s savings APY on these pages comes from one data file: 3.50%, as shown on Marcus’s own savings page (APY as of October 14, 2026). Marcus doesn’t publish a daily ACH limit on that page; it advertises same-day transfers of $100,000 or less to and from other banks. Marcus no longer makes new personal loans. Rates change, so confirm the current rate at marcus.com before opening an account.
Bottom line: Marcus is excellent for one thing: paying a competitive rate on your savings with zero fees. But it’s not a full bank — no checking, no debit card, no ATM, no investing. Use it as your savings hub alongside a checking account from another bank.

Savings Account
Marcus High-Yield Online Savings pays 3.50% APY with no minimum balance and no monthly fee. The rate applies to all balances equally — no introductory tiers or gimmicks. Marcus tracks the market honestly: the rate goes up when rates rise and comes down when the Fed cuts.
What Marcus savings lacks compared to Ally:
- No Buckets or sub-account goal tools
- No savings automation or Surprise Savings
- No joint savings account
- No debit card or ATM access
For pure savings yield with Goldman Sachs backing and zero fees, Marcus is one of the best options available.

Rates as of October 15, 2026 on Marcus’s CD pages. Marcus offers terms up to 6 years and says penalties apply to a withdrawal of principal before maturity; we could not read its penalty schedule, so check Marcus’s FAQ. See Marcus CD rates.
The No-Penalty CD is one of Marcus’s standout products: CD-level rates with the flexibility to withdraw the full balance starting 7 days after funding — useful in a falling-rate environment or when you may need funds before the term ends.
Transfer Limits
Since Marcus has no debit card and accepts no incoming wires, most money access runs through ACH to a linked checking account (outgoing wires are also available).

| ATM withdrawal | Not available |
| Zelle | Not available |
Timing: Marcus says same-day transfers of $100,000 or less to or from other banks are available; transfers can be scheduled online, in the app or by phone.
