Chime does not publish one fixed transfer limit for every member. Per Chime’s own help center, ACH transfer and Pay Anyone limits are personalized based on account history and risk factors, and there’s no manual way to request an increase — you check your exact limit in the app. Chime does not support Zelle or wire transfers. Instant Transfer to an external debit card costs 1.75% of the amount sent.

Chime’s help center explicitly states limits are based on “account history and other risk factors” and that there is “no manual way to request a limit increase.” Older Chime communications and some third-party trackers cite reference figures in the $2,000–$5,000/day and $25,000/month range for external ACH transfers, and around $1,000/day for Pay Anyone — but Chime no longer confirms a single blanket number, so treat any figure you see (including older figures previously published on this page) as a rough historical reference only, not a guarantee. Always confirm your current limit in the Chime app.

External ACH Transfers

To move money between Chime and an external bank account (Chase, BofA, etc.):

  1. Link an external account in Chime app → Move Money → Transfers → Add external account
  2. Verify with 2 micro-deposits (1–3 business days) or instant verification via bank login
  3. Once linked, initiate transfers up to your personal limit — visible in the app
  4. Standard ACH takes 1–3 business days each direction

Chime states it does not place a limit on transfers coming in from an external bank into your Chime account, though your external bank may impose its own limits. Chime does not limit the number of outgoing ACH transfers from Chime to an external bank, but the dollar amount per transfer is subject to your personalized limit.

Pay Anyone: Chime’s P2P Transfer Feature

Pay Anyone is Chime’s alternative to Zelle, built directly into the app.

Recipient Speed Fee
Other Chime member Instant $0
Non-member (via link) Recipient claims via link within a set window $0

Non-member transfers: You send a payment link via text or email. The recipient claims the funds via the link, depositing to any US bank account. If unclaimed, the money returns to your Chime account. Confirm the exact claim window and your personal Pay Anyone limit in the app, since both can vary by account.

Instant Transfer and Pay Anyone share the same available limit pool per Chime’s help center — using one reduces what’s available for the other until your limit resets.

Instant Transfer: Pay a Fee for Speed

Chime Instant Transfer sends funds to an eligible Visa or Mastercard debit card:

Feature Detail
Outbound fee (Chime → external card) 1.75% of the transfer amount
Inbound fee (external card → Chime) $0 (minimum transfer $5)
Speed Typically within minutes
Available limit Shared with Pay Anyone; check the app

Example: You need to send $500 to a friend’s debit card instantly. Instant Transfer fee = $500 × 1.75% = $8.75. Standard ACH to their linked bank is free but takes 1–2 days.

No Zelle Support

Chime does not participate in the Zelle network. This is a notable limitation compared to traditional banks and some neobanks. Alternatives:

Need Alternative
Send to another Chime member Pay Anyone (instant, free)
Send to a non-Chime user Pay Anyone link (free)
Send faster with a fee Instant Transfer (1.75%, immediate)
Receive Zelle from someone Ask sender to use your linked bank account that does support Zelle

See Does Chime have Zelle? for the full explanation.

No Wire Transfers

Chime does not support wire transfers in either direction; wires sent to a Chime account number are automatically returned to the sending bank. This affects:

  • Real estate closings requiring a wire
  • Business payments requiring same-day clearing
  • Large one-time transfers that exceed your personal ACH limit

Workaround: Maintain a secondary account at a traditional bank (free accounts at Ally, Capital One, or Discover work well) for wire receipt, then ACH the funds to Chime afterward.
