Monthly Fee: $16.95 — Can It Be Reduced?
The standard fee of $16.95/month places this account above no-fee online alternatives. Unlike entry-level accounts, the Signature No Limit account includes no per-transaction limits on all debits, transfers, and withdrawals are included.
Three ways the fee can be reduced:
1. RBC Value Program — The most impactful reduction. By enrolling the account in the Value Program and holding other eligible RBC products (an RBC credit card, RBC mortgage, RBC investment account, or others), monthly rebates can reduce the fee to as low as $4. The Value Program also activates Avion points earning on debit purchases. For customers who already bank primarily with RBC, this is a meaningful saving.
2. Seniors Rebate — Qualifying seniors pay $12.95/month, a $4 reduction from the standard fee. Seniors who also hold other RBC products and enrol in the Value Program may reduce the fee further.
3. Right Account Guarantee — This is not a fee reduction but a protection: if you open the account and determine it does not fit your needs within the first 4 months, RBC will refund your monthly fees for up to 3 months. This removes some of the risk of trying the account.
Features Breakdown
Unlimited Debit Transactions
All debits such as card taps, ATM withdrawals, bill payments, pre-authorized debits, and transfers — are included with no per-transaction limit. This is the core value proposition of the account and distinguishes it from RBC’s entry-level plans, which cap monthly transactions. For people who use their chequing account daily, the unlimited structure means no running tally of remaining transactions.
Free Interac e-Transfers and International Transfers
Interac e-Transfers to Canadian recipients are included at no charge. This covers the majority of everyday person-to-person payments like splitting expenses, paying a landlord, or sending money to family. International money transfers are also free, which is notable for newcomers to Canada or those with cross-border financial ties.
Bank Drafts and Personalized Cheques
Six bank drafts per year are included ($9.95 each after that), plus the first book of personalized cheques at no cost. For customers who occasionally need certified funds for rental deposits, car purchases, or legal transactions the included drafts represent meaningful value.
Credit Card Annual Fee Rebate
Account holders receive up to $48/year off the annual fee of an eligible RBC credit card. For cards with annual fees in the $48–$120 range, this partially offsets the credit card cost. Note that the RBC VIP Banking account ($30/month) offers a higher rebate of up to $120/year if a larger credit card rebate is a priority.
Overdraft Protection
Up to $5,000 of overdraft protection is available at no extra cost. Overdraft protection covers transactions when the account balance is insufficient, helping avoid declined payments and NSF fees. The $10 NSF fee applies to transactions that cannot be covered as overdraft protection reduces how often this occurs.
Avion Points on Debit
When enrolled in the Value Program, the account earns 1 Avion point per $10 spent on debit purchases. RBC Avion points can be redeemed for travel, merchandise, gift cards, or RBC financial products. The earning rate is not high by travel rewards standards, but it converts routine spending into some accumulated value.
Petro-Canada Savings
Linking the RBC Signature No Limit Banking debit card to a Petro-Canada account saves 3¢/L on fuel purchases. On a typical tank (50L), this represents $1.50 in savings — small individually, but adds up for regular drivers.

Who This Account May Be Well-Suited For
- Existing RBC customers who hold an RBC credit card, mortgage, or investment account and can use the Value Program to reduce the monthly fee. For customers already in the RBC ecosystem, the fee can be substantially lower than the headline $16.95.
- High-volume chequing users who tap, transfer, and withdraw frequently and want a single flat fee rather than counting transactions.
- Customers who occasionally need bank drafts — the six included per year avoid multiple $9.95 charges that would otherwise add up.
- Seniors — the Seniors Rebate reduces the fee to $12.95, and further reduction is possible with the Value Program.
Who This Account May Not Be Well-Suited For
- Fee-conscious customers who do not already bank with RBC — without the Value Program, the $16.95 monthly fee is higher than no-fee chequing accounts, which could also offer unlimited transactions at $0/month.
- Customers who want multiple account fee waivers or a larger credit card rebate — the RBC VIP Banking account ($30/month) waives monthly fees on up to three accounts (2 CAD + 1 USD) and provides up to $120 off an eligible credit card annual fee. For customers with multiple RBC accounts and premium credit cards, the VIP account may provide better total value.
How to Open the Account
The RBC Signature No Limit Banking Account can be opened online or at any RBC branch. The online process typically takes 10–15 minutes. You will need a government-issued ID (passport, driver’s licence, or provincial ID) and basic personal information. Canadian residents aged 18 or older are generally eligible to apply. Newcomers to Canada may be able to open the account before arriving in the country through RBC’s newcomer programme.
For the current iPad promotion, the account must be opened before November 2, 2026. Qualifying criteria and conditions apply — review the full offer terms on RBC’s website.
