Electrify America is the largest open DC fast-charging network in the United States with more than 950 locations and 4,500+ individual chargers as of 2026. You can charge without an account using a credit card, but signing up saves $0.08–$0.12 per kWh on every session.

How to Set Up and Use Electrify America
Step 1: Download the App
Download the free Electrify America app (iOS or Android). Create an account with email.
Step 2: Add Payment Method
Add a credit card in the app. The app stores payment so you don’t need to tap your card at each station.
Step 3: Optionally Upgrade to Pass+
At $4/month, Pass+ pays for itself after about 1–2 sessions per month vs. guest pricing. Worth it if you use Electrify America regularly.
Step 4: Find a Station
Use the app’s map or PlugShare to find nearby stations. Filter by:
- Power level (50/150/350 kW)
- Connector type (CCS or CHAdeMO)
- Availability (shows occupied vs. available stalls in real time)
Step 5: Start a Session
- Via app: Tap the station in the app and press “Start Session”
- Via card: Tap your Electrify America Pass card or credit card on the charger terminal
- Guest: Tap credit card directly on the reader
Plug in first, then start the session in the app. Maximum charge to 80% for fastest DC fast charging — battery acceptance rate slows above 80%.
Connector Compatibility
| Connector | Compatible EVs |

Tips for Efficient Use
- Precondition your battery before arriving at an Electrify America station — warming or cooling the battery to optimal temperature before arrival significantly increases peak charge speed; most EVs do this automatically when you navigate to a fast charger in the car’s nav system
- Charge to 80% for fastest throughput; going 80%→100% takes as long as 20%→80%
- Check app before arriving — realtime availability shows occupied stalls; if a location is fully occupied, route to the next option
