When do I start repaying my student loan in the UK?

Repayments begin in the April after you graduate or leave your course, but only if you earn above the threshold. For Plan 2 (post-2012 England/Wales), the threshold is £27,295/year. You repay 9% of earnings above the threshold.

Should I pay off my UK student loan early?

For most graduates, voluntary overpayment doesn't make financial sense because the loan is written off after 30–40 years and repayments are income-contingent. It only makes sense if you'll pay off the full balance before it's written off.
